Diamonds are something extraordinary
Formed under immense pressure, hundreds of kilometres below the ground, an Earth Grown Diamond’s one-billion-year journey is nothing short of miraculous.
They were first discovered in India over two thousand years ago and have remained a symbol of beauty, love and abundance ever since.
1. CUT
A Diamond’s radiance relies heavily on an artisan’s expertise in cutting and polishing it, creating light-reflecting facets that unlock its fire. At American Swiss, we’re passionate about precision, ensuring all our hand-selected Diamonds are expertly cut to maximize their brilliance.
2. Colour
The Diamond Colour Grade ranges from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colourless Diamonds are the most valuable as they are the rarest. However, fancy coloured Diamonds, in alluring shades like yellow, pink and blue, are highly prized exceptions.
3. Clarity
When a Diamond is formed, tiny particles of dust and other minerals can be trapped inside it. These are known as inclusions. A Diamond’s clarity refers to the internal purity of a Diamond - the fewer the inclusions, the rarer and more valuable the gemstone. However, these inclusions make each Diamond unique as they’re a fingerprint billions of years old that belongs to you alone.
4. Carat
Carat refers to both the size and weight of a Diamond. As a Diamond's weight increases, so does its value. Just as R1 is divided into 100 cents, a carat is divided into 100 points. For example, a 50-point Diamond, weighs 0.50 carats. However, carat weight alone does not determine a Diamond's value.
Two stones of equal weight can vary considerably in price because of quality differences. All American Swiss Diamonds half a carat and above are certified by an independent laboratory.
5. Confidence
